About Us | Company Overview
Connect One™ is a leading fabless semiconductor company that provides value-added solutions for connecting devices to the Internet and other IP-based networks. Our field-proven embedded chips, embedded device servers, and external serial device servers enable manufacturers of any kind of non-PC device to easily, quickly and cost-effectively add IP connectivity to new and existing devices. We provide you with unequalled solutions and support at every step in your project, from concept and design through mass deployment.
The Industry Pioneer
Connect One’s position as “The Device Networking Authority” is based on much more than just our current market leadership. It is rooted in our over 15 years of experience in M2M (machine-to-machine) device connectivity, our dual expertise in both devices and IP networking, and our innovations that have become industry standards.
Connect One was founded in 1996 with the goal of enabling devices to tap into the Internet’s global infrastructure, long before most companies were aware of the possibility of using Internet protocols (IP) to connect devices. We developed extensive expertise in IP connectivity as a result of the knowledge gained from the challenges of establishing reliable and ubiquitous Internet connectivity for our first product, an Internet fax device.
Based on this experience, in 1999 we introduced iChip™, the market’s first updateable Internet Controller™ chip – an entirely innovative concept that is now widely imitated in the industry.
In addition to the Internet Controller, among our other industry firsts is the first high-level IP connectivity API (Application Programming Interface), the AT+i™ protocol. The Internet Controller and high-level IP API are rapidly becoming standards for connecting non-PC devices to the Internet.
With data security becoming an increasingly major concern, Connect One continues to lead the market by being the first company to offer a SSL3/TLS1.0 offload solution for low-cost devices. Our iChipSec™ Internet Controllers create a new standard for secure, drop-in IP connectivity solutions as they offload security, TCP/IP and a wide selection of upper layer Internet protocols from any host processor.
Technology Leaders with Proven Solutions
Our core iChip technology enables IP connectivity that is independent of the host processor chip, operating system and physical layer. We hold a variety of patents, patent applications, and proprietary technologies and we continue to bring new innovations to market based on our iChip technology.
Connect One TCP/IP connectivity chips and serial device servers are deployed around the globe, across thousands of ISPs, wireless carriers and telephone networks. Our customer base includes some of the world’s leading manufacturers of POS terminals, embedded modems, automated teller machines (ATMs), home care medical equipment and fleet management terminals, as well as hundreds of customers in industries such as telemedicine, building automation, process control, security, and power monitoring.
Installed worldwide, our embedded TCP/IP microcontroller and external device server solutions have proven their ease of integration, cost-effectiveness, and operational reliability. Moreover, having been operational in the field since 1999, their ability to stay up-to-date with the dynamic and unpredictable Internet environment is now well confirmed.
Our Vision: Secure TCP/IP Everywhere
Connect One’s original vision for a future in which all devices in industrial, commercial, and home environments would connect to each other via the Internet has taken root and is well on the way to fulfillment. The Internet infrastructure is in place, the Internet is firmly established as the global communications backbone, and TCP/IP is required for increasing numbers of applications.
But, there is much more to IP connectivity than simply connecting. Devices also need to be managed, constantly updated to accommodate the ever-changing Internet environment, and, increasingly, they need built-in security. These areas are outside the core expertise of most device manufacturers. Hence, manufacturers appreciate the added value in providing a solution for the full array of IP connectivity issues.
Industries such as medicine, utilities, financial services, retail, and gambling rely on TCP/IP for their networking needs. As more and more industries require secure built-in TCP/IP, Connect One is best positioned to fully address the evolving complexities of IP connectivity, through our current offering of embedded TCP/IP Internet chips and serial device servers, and our strong product pipeline in development.
